- Notices to competitors will be posted on the club’s official notice board twenty-four hours before the event
- The Officer of the day (OOD) will hold a briefing 30 minutes prior to the first race of the day
- Eligible boats may be entered at the race control hut on the day of racing and prior to the race. Signing on shall be considered entry to the race.
- Eligibility requirements for boats are: Handicap Racing is limited to MONOHULL or CATAMARAN or WINDSURFERS sailing craft with a number agreed by the club’s sailing committee.
- Eligibility requirements for competitors are: All competitors shall be members of BegaFigo, associate members or non members will not be awarded points in club events. Competitors should be aware of rule 45, which states that they MUST be on the water by their preparatory signal.
- Both helm and crew must wear personal buoyancy. Wetsuits will not be accepted as personal buoyancy. Only board sailors are exempt from this requirement, who may sail without personal buoyancy at there own risk. The Officer of the Day as “not racing” will treat boats and crews not fulfilling these criteria.
- Tow (2) boats shall constitute a race, if there are no finishers of a race or all finishing competitors are disqualified or retire after the end of the race the race shall be abandoned.
- Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 09:00 on the day it will take effect. Except that any change to the schedule of races will be posted by 09:00 on the week before it will take effect.
- The OOD may remove the requirement to avoid the swimming area at any time, If he/she deems avoidance of the swimming area would be dangerous to competitors or if the location of the orange buoys is incorrect.
Signals made ashore will be displayed in the vicinity of the race control hut where the race flag pole is placed. Signals made afloat will be from a committee boat, unless specified otherwise on the course oard, it will be the Rescue Boat. Personal buoyancy will be worn at all times whilst afloat regardless of any signals. The mono hull class flag shall be code Z The Catamaran class flag shall be code C The Windsurfer class flag shall be code W - The racing area will take place in the vicinity of the area between the island North of the club and the rocky coast towards Konnos bay. Long distance regattas, and pursuit races will take place in the sea area from Cape Nausica to Cape Greco depending on the weather.
- No boat will enter the swimming area, defined by local by-laws, marked by the orange buoys which protects the Protaras beaches’ swimmers.
- The course will be decided on by the Officer of the Day and will be displayed on the course board at least 30 minutes before the published start time.
- The course is marked with inflatable orange cylinders and start & finsh lines with round yellow fenders.
- Races will be started by using rule 26 with the warning signal given 5 minutes before the starting signal.
- The warning signal for each succeeding class shall be made with the starting signal of the preceding class. This Amends rule 26.
- Rule 30 (Round the ends, black flag & Z flag rules) shall NOT apply.
- Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall avoid the starting area.
- When conditions are suitable gate starts can be used as a starting system.
- The Start line will be a line between the centre of the committee boat and a day glow orange buoy. An inner distance mark may be used.
Helms must sign a declaration before going afloat indicating that they have adequate insurance that they and there boat a suitable for the conditions and that they agree to abide by the rules, at least 15 minutes prior to the programmed start time. Helms must also sign a declaration after each race to indicate that the course has been sailed correctly and the sailing instructions obeyed. For races run from a committee boat the helm must also declare the number of laps completed. The time limit for declarations is 1 hour after finishing the last race of the day. Competitors who do not finish the race or retire must sign off DNF (did not finish) for that race.
- Scoring will be by the ISAF low point scoring system.
- Results will be published on the club notice board, and the club web site.
- Should a Member do an additional duty (above their allocated duties) in order to make a race function then the members mean points for that series shall be awarded to them for the race(s) in question.
- If all parts of the boat her rigging and crew did not leave the beach. Then she shall be scored DNC (did not come to the starting area).
- Prizes will be awarded to the crews placing first, second and third in each series.
- Overall prizes will be awarded at the end of the season, prize will be awarded for crews coming first second and third overall, and in each class. In addition prizes will be awarded for "Ladies Trophy" and a "Junior Trophy".
- Prizes may be issued for special events during the Year.
For race training. all people taking part should be at the club well before start time to prepare their boats and be ready for briefing. Once training has started it is difficult to instruct sailors on the water. Training dates and duration are illustrated in the Clubs programme available at the Events section.
